A Message from Mike

Last week, I got a visceral reminder of Maplewoodshop’s role while visiting Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh, PA as part of a roadshow put on by our new partner, TEQ.

On this trip I met an Ironworker safety officer from NC. He shared that his son came home from 3rd grade saying, “I’m stupid. I wish I were dead.” The mother ended up homeschooling the child for 10 YEARS and then became a teacher in the classroom. Now, the son is happily working in HVAC in an apprenticeship.

Helping youth discover the intelligence in their hands is why we show up every day. Why we focus on teacher training. Why we make it easy for administrators. If we can help your youth in your community, please let us know. And, if you can think of other communities where we can help, please forward this newsletter to them.

Humbly,

Mike
