A Message from Mike
Lately, I have been reflecting on what, deep down, Maplewoodshop aspires to do and I keep landing on purpose. We aspire to give youth purpose as early as possible. While there are many means to this end, we have chosen to focus on helping youth discover intelligence in their hands, explore the many careers open to them, and help them realize they matter. To this end, stay tuned for some exciting news in the coming months as we concept and test new trades for middle school aged children. Woodworking is just the beginning! If you have a teacher who has been teaching Maplewoodshop for 2 or more years, take advantage of our newest training program. The Advanced Certification Training offers new skills such as:

The Orange Pencil Award
Congratulations Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem
Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem is our February recipient of the Orange Pencil Award! Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem is new to the Maplewoodshop family, but taking off in big ways! With the support of the Carpenters Union, their scholars will be using Maplewoodshop to build projects that prepare them for future trade careers! A local union representative will join in their after school programming to support their scholars in their builds, and open pathways to apprenticeship. We are so excited for your students to explore rewarding career opportunities in the trades!
