Maplewoodshop primarily teaches life skills like confidence, grit, and problem-solving through woodworking. We train and equip your staff to teach hand-tool woodworking in your current space.

Our program in empowering, engaging, and easy to administer. It comes with our patent pending tabletop workstations, all the hand tools and materials you need housed in our portable and lockable tool chest, projects including detailed lesson plans, professional development for your staff with online videos, and our program support!

We want our programing to have a sustained and lasting impact in your community. We have purchase, lease, and rental options for our woodworking program. We also offer a one time class for girl and cub scouts, community groups, and libraries in your space, as well as residency options. Scroll down to learn more!

Tabletop Work Stations

Our patent pending table top work stations easily expand to fit over your existing tables and quickly transform your current space into a safe wood shop. Your children can clamp, cut, hammer, and explore without damaging your tables.

Adults can learn too! Our program can increase your schools capacity, empower your teachers, and allow them to teach life skills. Some teacher’s confidence grows as much as their student’s.

Tool Chest

It’s like wood shop in a box. All of the workstations, hand tools, and safety equipment easily store in our portable and lockable tool chest. The flexibility makes it perfect for any space.

Online Trainings

We are a proud partner of Expert Online Training. We offer 30+ online training videos covering safety, tool usage, class management, and many projects. We also can provide remote support and give you access to the videos beyond your initial training if you need a refresher.

Projects and lesson Plans

We don’t believe in kits. Our fun lesson plans take you from plank to project. All of our lesson plans align with national standards! They start easy to teach the basics of safety and tool use, then grow in difficulty as your course does. We set you up for success.

Support

To us you’re more than a customer. You are a partner and member of the Maplewoodshop community. We can advise you on programing, provide maintenance as needed, additional trainings, and are constantly making new lesson plans.

Options

  • Purchase

    • Tool chests come sets of 8, 12, & 16 workstations and corresponding tools that can accommodate up to 16, 24, & 32 students safely at a time (if children are sharing a workstation). It include all program features and support for first year and ownership chest, tools, and workstations. Additional support available for the following years covers support, new lesson plans, tool maintenance, additional training.

  • Lease

    • Spread out the cost, we have a 3 year lease option with the same 3 sets. Additional support available for the following years covers support, new lesson plans, tool maintenance, additional training.

  • Rent

    • Try before you buy! Gauge interest and see our impact first hand. We have 30 day, 60 day, summer/semester, and year long options for rental. . We will also apply current rental fees to your purchase if done during your rental period.

  • Residency

    • Bring us into your school to create a legacy project! Give your students a day or week of hands-on learning that they will never forget by creating a bench or  piece that can live in the school forever.

    • Great way to show off your wood working program.

  • One time girl and cub Scout class- perfect for libraries and community groups too

    • Only for local northern New Jersey organizations

    • We can help girl and cub scouts attain their woodworking badges at your next meeting.

    • We work with packs, dens, and troops to deliver a hands-on learning experience that includes:

      Cub Scouts

      1) Discuss which tools are best to have a in tool box and learn safety rules.
      2) Practice using at least 4 tools. (combination square, hammer, saw, tape measure, nails)
      3) Select and plan a project and needed materials. (Ex. simple box)
      4) Build the project (parents work with kids)

      Girl Scouts

      Take a look at this helpful guide for Cadette woodworking badge requirements.

      1) Discuss which tools are best to have a in tool box and learn safety rules.

      2) Practice using at least 6 tools. (combination square, screwdriver, level, hammer, saw, tape measure, nails)

      3) Make a nail string art project

      4) Select and plan a project and needed materials. (Ex. simple box)

      5) Build the project (parents work with kids)

      Boy scouts

      Given the Scout’s merit badge rules, our desire for scouts to gain the most out of the merit badge process, and time necessary to achieve the merit badge; we are unfortunately unable to offer a merit badge program for boy scouts and we are not a Merit Badge Counselors. Though we cannot take you step by step through the merit badge process, we are happy to be a resource to troops as they pursue their woodworking merit badge.
